*If you have a credit for the Chicago Co-discovery workshop canceled due to Covid, it can be applied in full to this workshop. If you are a presenter, you can apply a $250.00 discount to your honorarium.


I will not make any charges to your credit card until September 6, 2023, as I know that plans can change at the last minute. Cancelation after that point may involve some service charge (I’ll try to keep it to a minimum) deducted from your refund, based on fixed costs that I have incurred in preparation for your participation.

Lodging Recommendations:

The Friday workshop will be held at my home on Bent Mountain, a 30- minute drive from my office in Roanoke, Virginia. Bent Mountain is on the edge of the Blue Ridge mountains, so it will be cool in the mornings and evenings. Sweaters or light jackets are recommended. If you’d like to stay on the mountain, consider reserving a room at the Bent Mountain Lodge. The lodge is located in a spectacular location about 10 minutes from my home. I would describe the accommodations there as clean, orderly, and comfortable – but basic. This is not an upscale spa resort, it’s a rustic mountain lodge in a beautiful location.

The Hilton Garden Inn is located about 30 minutes from my home. I have negotiated a special room rate and currently hold a block of 25 rooms there.  Ask for the Bob Barkley Study Club rate.

The Hotel Roanoke is a restored landmark hotel that’s located in downtown Roanoke. It is approximately 10 minutes from the airport, and and about 40 minutes from my Bent Mountain home. You won’t be disappointed if your preference is a more high-end experience. From there, you can wander around downtown Roanoke which has some great shops, restaurants, and local market.

 

Air Travel

 Roanoke has a very nice regional airport, with connections to Chicago, Atlanta, Charlotte, New York, and DC. The Greensboro, NC airport is about two hours away. The Charlotte, NC airport is about three hours away. Yes, I know, it’s a little challenging to get here, but it is well worth it!  I recommend that you rent a car if you are flying in, as Uber is difficult to manage with the distances and locations involved. I can help you coordinate your travel plans for if you need some help.
